Although exercise is critical to a patient’s health over time, weight-loss is more related to actual dietary adjustments. However, as can be expected, exercising plus the dietary adjustment will produce even greater results. Patients typically lose weight quickly after bariatric surgery but should not wait to start exercising. Patients’ newfound energy and excitement about weight-loss drives them to develop exercise habits and healthier lifestyles that they otherwise would have never thought possible.
