Patients travel across the United States and from around the world for bariatric surgery performed by Dr. Lavin. He is a pioneer and innovator in the field of laparoscopic surgery, and for this reason, his practice has transformed into a medical tourism destination for weight loss surgery. Dr. Lavin has a full service travel concierge program designed to make every out-o-town patient feel at home.
Process for Traveling patients
The first step is to call our office and speak with a Patient Advocate. The next step is to speak with our Travel Concierge team. Our Travel Concierge will schedule a time for you to speak with Dr. Lavin for a 15-minute phone consultation. Following your consultation, our Concierge will assist you with any pre-operative requirements specified by Dr. Lavin. We will also suggest convenient airports and hotel accommodations and more.
Finally, it’s travel time! We would like for you and your caretaker to arrive in New Orleans on Sunday night or Monday morning. Dr. Lavin will meet you in our Metairie office on Monday, which is directly across the street from the hospital. Your procedure will likely be scheduled on Tuesday morning. You will be discharged to a nearby hotel on Wednesday and will have a post-op appointment in the Metairie office on Thursday. You will be ready to travel home either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.
Please remember that you must have a caretaker with you who can take you to and from the procedure, and stay with you during your recovery period.
